Ian Hull traditional furniture-maker His passion for working with wood drove Ian to leave his corporate job to follow his family’s traditional craft. He established the Havenfate workshop in Dulwich Hill, in Sydney’s prestigious Inner West in 1998. Ian used traditional joinery techniques and quality finishes to produce high-quality beds. Demand from his customers led to a wider product range including chests of drawers, tables and entertainment units. Ian also undertakes commissions & sometimes working with a team of other local craftsmen (including an upholsterer, lead-lighter and French polisher) he has created a large range of unique furniture. He was recently involved in the construction of a Butlers Pantry for Vaucluse House, one of Sydney’s most important historic houses. The piece was commissioned as a replica of a cedar storage cabinet from the 1830s. |
